Digital Art

My art is deeply connected to stories of place and local Culture. As a Woiwurrung, Boonwurrung, Palawa, Yorta Yorta, Wiradjuri, Wonnarua, Gamilaroi woman living on Gadigal and Dharug Land, I design from Country, drawing on local stories, customs and my own personal journey.

I have extensive experience creating bespoke pieces catered to specific needs, across artworks, murals and sculptures. For commissioned artworks, please get in touch!

An online store is coming soon! In the mean time please subscribe.

'NGAYI PARRI'

'NGAYI PARRI'

Using found natural materials from ‘Ngayi Parri’ (mother earth), such as hessian, clay, kangaroo lace, ininti seeds from the bean tree, or bat-wing coral tree transform into hand sculptured ornamental objects such as a dilly bag and coolamon that expresses ‘Womens’ Business’ belonging to the oldest living culture in the world, First Nation Peoples’ Australia.

Debra Beale

My connection to Gadigal and Dharug Country, is a deep spiritual birth connection. My lineage connects me to freshwater and sea waters through my mother’s bloodlines from the Kulin, Palawa and YortaYorta Nations. My connection also flows through the Wiradjuri, Wonnarua and Gamilaraay Nations through my father’s lineage.

My artistic journey is deeply rooted in my connection to Ngayi Parri, or ‘Mother Earth’. Caring for land, sea and sky are our stories of sustainable practices and sustainable living.

My designs share stories of lived experiences as a First Nation woman from Australia and the impact that first contact of white settlers has had on my people and me. Storytelling is healing and my collections are inspired by the stories of my own healing journey, and that of my communities.
